Version: From the end of chapter 15.
Age: 20's-30's.
Gender: Male.
Sexuality: Hainesexual, since he is incredibly, utterly obsessed with Haine. Yeah. Otherwise, he's heterosexual, but he doesn't have that big of an interest in women.
Appearance:
Well-dressed for the most part, Giovanni favours expensive suits and all that go with them. That means ties, polished shoes and pinstripe button-up shirts, all in immaculately clean condition. Any casual wear means... pretty much the same thing. Maybe no blazer. He's a little thin-looking, close up, but definitely not malnourished; a bit on the short side for someone his age, as well. It's hard to pin down how old he looks, having an oddly young blond Beatles-esque/bowlcut haircut, yet dressing like a proper businessman.
The most important features he has is the permanent scar running down his entire spine, the metal ring that has been screwed into his neck, and the scarring around it.
Oh, and he regularly wears orange-tinted sunglasses that strongly resemble pool goggles. That he hardly ever takes off.
Personality:
Civil without being kind and with a grin that can range from disarmingly charming to something that would make the Cheshire cat cringe, Giovanni's exterior does not often betray his rather… disturbing nature. Etiquette and politeness, at least on a surface level, are things he tends to hold in very high regard.
… Which is a little unnerving, considering he has a sadistic streak the size of Texas. He takes great joy in watching others suffer, be it mentally or physically; even going as far as to manipulate them into a situation that will cause said suffering. From there he'll be happy to sit back and watch the entertainment. Sadism mixed with voyeurism is a dangerous thing, and these characteristics he has can most clearly be seen when he is interacting with (or screwing with) Haine.
However, he does have an odd parental side. Luki and Noki, hyperactive twin girls that he seems to take care of, brings this out; it's possible that other children are able to do this as well.
Abilities/Weaponry:
Regeneration: Due to the surgical implant Giovanni received as a child (a spinal chord transplant, to be exact), he has the ability to regenerate. So far, canon's shown that bullet wounds heal almost instantaneously, so it's clear that he can heal very quick. It's insinuated that he cannot die, though it's possible that it's just very difficult to kill him. In addition to the regeneration, the spinal chord has given him increased muscle and bone strength, and a very good immunity to most diseases.
... Telepathy?: It hasn't been explained canonly yet, but Giovanni has some sort of mental link with (at least) Haine's mind. He's able to project an image of himself to Haine without actually being there, can make it seem as if he's physically touching him (that'll cause Haine to freeze up), and speak to him. It's possible that this ability is somehow related to Giovanni's eyes, as we haven't actually seen them yet. So far they've always been hidden by his sunglasses. It's also possible that this can extend to other people's mind, but highly doubtful to the same extent as with Haine's.
Guns: Two guns of a very normal variety, with bullets of an equally normal variety.
Weaknesses:
Giovanni is obsessed - obsessed - with Haine. That is his greatest weakness. His focus will almost always be on Haine, which can be detrimental in matters that don't involve him.
He's also got quit a bit of a vain streak. His clothes getting dirty is really rather unappealing to him, to the point of bordering on yet another obsession.
History:
It's questionable if Giovanni is even human.
The earliest glance we are given canonly of Giovanni's life is when he is a small child. Just a brief glimpse: he's drawing something with crayons on a pad of paper. He's also listed as test subject #68, has a metal ring screwed into and encircling the entirety of his neck, as well as a long scar running down his spine. In this glimpse he doesn't wear glasses of any kind, but his eyes are obscured by long hair. Wearing patient-issued hospital clothing that is buttoned down the back, he has a nametag clipped to his shirt. An ID card.
Giovanni was one of the dozens of test subjects used for the Cerberus Spinal Cord; a spinal cord transplant that seems to allow unnatural muscle and bone strengthening, regeneration, and immunity to disease. The head of his experiment, Professor Einstellson, is the one he regards as his mother, however twisted that may seem.
And thus, if he regards the head of the project as a maternal figure, how would one suppose he views the rest of the subjects?
Enter in Haine. Another test subject, and one that had consistently won Einstellson's favour by recovering ('surviving') the subsequent testing after the transplant. The one that consistently beat Giovanni out. Most likely graded as A++, compared to Giovanni's recorded B++. As children Giovanni resented this, envied Haine. It's pretty clear that at that age he had the beginnings of a mother complex. It doesn't end there.
At some point in time Haine turns on everyone; he goes crazy, murders all the doctors, nurses, professors, all the other test subjects. Anyone he can get his hands on, including his sister Lilly, Professor Einstellson, and Giovanni. Somehow Giovanni manages to live through this, though he's scarred mentally (possibly physically, if Haine really did tear his eyes out).
Skip forward years. Decades. An undetermined length of time.
Haine now resides in an Underground city; most likely below Germany or Austria (hence the use of 'polizei'), very likely above the level where the hospital was located. It seems Einstellson has survived as well, and in addition to wanting Haine back for research, she wants to see him again. Enter Giovanni.
An adult now, and with two young charges in his care - hyperactive twin girls named Luki and Noki who have gigantic guns and knives - Giovanni sets about stalking Haine. Part of the reason being because Einstellson wants him back; the other part being his own obsession with the person who had always been better than him. He appears to Haine via some kind of mental projection most often, touching and taunting him and loving the hell out of pissing him off.
When they finally do meet up face-to-face, it's only after Giovanni hires an entire mafia family to kidnap Haine. A small gunfight ensues, with Giovanni getting shot badly and sliced open with the end of some handcuffs. It ends rather abruptly with him conceding, then... falling off the warehouse they were fighting in. That's as far as canon has gotten.
